Crisis Negotiation and Intervention Techniques (CNIT) is an advanced training program designed for security professionals who could benefit from the skills that Law Enforcement Crisis Negotiators use in crisis intervention, de-escalation and techniques used to communicate with people who are in state of crisis, threatening violence or a public safe risk.

This Fifteen Hour Training Course Program
This fifteen (15) hour training course program will enhance learners who have received basic training in Mental Health Awareness, Crisis Intervention and Tactical Communication and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. This Self-Paced Online Course combined with Instructor-led Virtual Training will assist security professionals who will respond to high risk incidents like a barricade or potential hostage situation, individuals in a state of crisis or who may be suicidal and those persons threatening to use violence.
Learners will receive education and comprehensive training within the recommended field of study used by Crisis Negotiators. Crisis Negotiator Response is a specialized form of acute incident response appropriate for high stress/high pressure/high risk environments where critical decision making and communication is conducted with limited time and information constraints. The course of study will follow a response model consistent with the need for a coordinated effort to resolve high risk incidents using the least amount of force necessary.

Learners Will Receive Training On The Concepts And Philosophy Of Crisis Negotiations
Learners will receive training on the concepts and philosophy of crisis negotiations, subject assessment, mental illness and how to manage people in crisis through de-escalation strategies. The training will review the Crisis Escalation Cycle and Behavioural Change Stairway Model to help you develop your ability to recognize high risk situations, use defusing techniques, enhance active listening abilities, call on effective communication skills and apply crisis negotiation techniques when dealing with escalating violence, criminal acts or persons suffering from mental illness or in crisis.
